Do you ever find yourself wondering exactly what you should be posting on your Facebook biz Page? It can be confusing – should you be promoting your biz or sharing a blog or should you be posting something else altogether?
There’s no one right answer as to the exact content you should be posting – a one-size-fits-all formula just doesn’t exist. Ultimately, the only way to get it exactly right for your biz and the community you’re building on your Page is to try a few things and pay attention to what your Fans respond to.
Watch the trends over time and post more of the stuff they like, and less of the stuff they don’t. Simple, right?
But how do you know where to start?
My number 1 tip: Have conversations & get your Fans to tell you exactly what they want
Social media is meant to be social – it’s all about people connecting with each other. Your Facebook biz Page is the perfect place for you to get to know your Fans better and begin building a relationship with them.
Think of it like dating – you want to get to know your Fans and what they’re about, and they want the same thing from you. You both need to know if there’s a match, so feel free to ask questions and start discussions.
Get your Fans to tell you exactly what they want from you by polling them.
Here’s an example of something I posted:
“What’s your burning social media question?
I’m using my expertise as an award-winning social media strategist to create a FREE ‘how to’ report – PM me your email address if you’d like a copy!”
- Think of the 3 questions you’re asked most frequently by your customers or prospects.
- List these out in a post on your Page, and ask your Fans to choose what their most pressing question or problem is. Providing 3 options is important because it makes it much easier for your Fans to interact with your question – you’ll get far fewer responses if you post an open question and leave your Fans to come up with an answer by themselves.
- Maximise responses by using something like Canva to create an image displaying your options, and ask your Fans to comment below with A, B or C.
- You can also do the same thing by creating a poll (use the Ask A Question option) in a Group you’re a member of on Facebook, and where you know your target audience hangs out:
Don’t be afraid to post this more than once either – post it 2 or 3 days in a row. Chances are, different Fans will see it each time and posting more than once will give you an opportunity to collect more responses and begin building a relationship with more of your Fans.
